Article ID: 239973 - Last Review: October 30, 2006 - Revision: 2.1 HOW TO: Disable AppleTalk Connections in Windows 2000This article was previously published under Q239973 On This PageSUMMARY
This article describes how to unbind the AppleTalk protocol from an AppleTalk adapter.
If you unbind the AppleTalk protocol from the primary AppleTalk adapter, you can effectively disable all AppleTalk on the computer. Client computers are not able to connect to the server and routing is disabled.
If you disable the primary AppleTalk adapter, Plug and Play functionality does not find a new AppleTalk adapter to be the primary card. Disabling the adapter turns off AppleTalk and gives the administrator more control and security. Disabling the primary adapter also stops routing or seed routing on the network and clients would need to use a backup router or seed router to route the zones. Disabling AppleTalk on the Computer
