SYMPTOMS

If you use the Date/Time tool in Control Panel to change your time zone, the time is not automatically updated to correspond to the new time zone setting.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, change the time value to the correct time for the new time zone setting:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Date/Time.
  2. On the Date & Time tab, click the correct time, and then click OK.

MORE INFORMATION

In Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows 98 Second Edition this behavior is different than the behavior in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0. In Windows NT, the Date/Time tool does change the time to correspond to the new time zone setting.

NOTE: In Microsoft Windows 2000, the time value is automatically changed to correspond to the new time zone setting. However, if you change the time value before you change the time zone in the Date/Time tool, the time value is not automatically updated to reflect the time zone change.

APPLIES TO
