Event ID: 1008 After Upgrading Windows NT 4.0 DHCP or WINS Server to Windows 2000

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade from a Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 DHCP server or WINS server to use Windows 2000, an event is logged informing the administrator that the database needs to be upgraded if the jet database conversations fails. The following is the text of that event log:

Event ID: 1008
Description: The jet Conversion utility failed to convert the database for "DHCPServer" or "WINSSERVER"...Please run eseutil.exe to convert the database.

The problem with this event log entry is that the Eseutil.exe file is no longer in the product.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the Esentutl.exe file, which is included in the program to convert the database. You can find this file in the following folder:
