Article ID: 253004 - Last Review: January 27, 2007 - Revision: 3.3 USB Device Is Not Listed Under USB Controller Bandwidth UsageThis article was previously published under Q253004 SYMPTOMS
Some Universal Serial Bus (USB) devices (for example, modems) may not be displayed in the Bandwidth area on the USB controller's Advanced tab in Device Manager.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because modems are considered bulk items and do not report any bandwidth requirements to the operating system. Because the device does not report any bandwidth requirements, it is not listed in the Bandwidth area.
NOTE: The device should still be displayed in the USB hub properties (on the Power tab in Device Manager). MORE INFORMATION
Bulk devices use bandwidth only from "system reserved." They do not have individual requirements.
