SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to run the Distributed COM Configuration (Dcomcnfg.exe) tool using the Run command, there may be no response and you may receive the following error message:

Cannot find the file 'dcomcnfg' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available.

When you use Windows Help to bring up the Distributed COM Configuration Properties, there is no response when you click the Click Here link.

CAUSE

This issue can occur because the Dcomcnfg.exe tool is not included on the Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, download and install the DCOM98 for Windows 98 configuration tool from the following Web site:
