How to Query the Microsoft Knowledge Base Using Keywords CAUSE
When Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Outlook Express is installed on your computer and you install Windows 98 Second Edition or Office 2000, the Mapi32.dll file that is used by Microsoft Fax is replaced with the version of the file that is included with either Windows 98 Second Edition or Office 2000.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods.
Method 1: Rename the Mapi32.dll FileTo rename the Mapi32.dll file that is in the Windows\System folder:
Method 2: Reinstall Microsoft FaxTo reinstall Microsoft Fax, use one of the following methods, depending on your operating system.Windows 95
Windows 98 or Windows 98 Second Edition

Microsoft Fax uses a Mapi32.dll file that is dated no later than 4/24/98, is approximately 700 KB (or larger) in size, and it is located in the Windows\System folder. Smaller or later versions of this file may not work.
