SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to open a document that is located in the root folder of a hard disk or floppy disk in Microsoft Word 2000, you may receive the following error message:
Winword caused an invalid page fault in module Wkwdaddn.dll.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Microsoft Works Word Add-In included with Microsoft Works Suite is installed on your computer.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue:
  • If the document is stored on a hard disk, move the document to the My Documents folder before you open the document.
  • If the document is stored on a floppy disk, create a new folder on the floppy disk, and then move the document into the new folder before you open the document.
