SYMPTOMS

The Days to keep pages in History setting on the General tab in Internet options displays only two digits. For example, if you specify a setting of 100, only "00" or "10" is displayed for the setting.

CAUSE

This behavior is caused by a display design change in Windows 2000. The functionality is not affected. Windows 2000 keeps pages in History for as many days as you specify (up to 999 days).

RESOLUTION

To work around this display issue, change the Scrollbar size setting to a lower value:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Display.
  3. On the Appearance tab, click Scrollbar in the Item box.
  4. In the Size box next to Item, decrease the size to a smaller value. For example, if it is set to 16 (the default), change it to 10.
  5. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

APPLIES TO
