Unlike the administrator update for Office 2000 CD1, there
is no administrative update that is designed specifically for CD2. However, you
can update an administrative installation of CD2 by using the Windows Installer
patch file, Data2.msp, which is available from the Office Resource Kit download
site.

detailed steps required to update an administrative installation of Office 2000
CD2.

How to Download the SR-1/Sr-1a Update for CD2
| 1. | Browse to the following Web site: |
| 2. | Click the link to download O2ksr1adl.exe. |
| 3. | Click Save this program to disk, and then
click OK. |
| 4. | Click Save. |
| 5. | In Windows Explorer, double-click the O2ksr1adl.exe file. |
| 6. | Type C:\Sr1CD2 in the Please
type the location where you want to place the extracted files box, and
then click OK. Click Yes when you are prompted to create the folder. |

How to Update your Administrative Installation
| 1. | If you have not updated an administrative installation for
CD1 to SR-1, do so now. For additional information about
updating CD1 administrative installations, click the following article number

OFF2000: How to Obtain and Apply the SR-1/SR-1a Update to Administrative Installations

| 2. | Copy the following folders from the SR-1 administrative
installation for CD1 to your CD2 administrative installation, replacing the
folders that already exist:

| 3. | Click Start, and then click Run. Type the following command in the Open box:
msiexec /a path to admin image\data2.msi /p path\Data2.msp SHORTFILENAMES=1 where path to admin image
is the full path to your CD2 administrative installation, and
path is the path to Data2.msp.
The
Microsoft Office 2000 Administrative Mode dialog box
appears.
NOTE: You must run this command from a computer on which the Windows
Installer is installed.

| 4. | Click Next in the Microsoft Office 2000 Administrative Mode
dialog box.NOTE: You do not have to type your CD Key or company name in the
Microsoft Office 2000 Administrative Mode dialog
box.

| 5. | Click I accept the terms in the License
Agreement, and then click Next. |
| 6. | Click Install Now. |

How to Update Your Network Client Installations
Method 1: If You Need to Update Only Office
If you do not need to install Internet Explorer 5.01 or Windows
Installer 1.1, follow these steps to update only Office CD2:
| 1. | Click Start, and then click Run. Type the following command in the Open box:
msiexec /i Admin Path\Data2.msi REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=vomus where Admin Path is the
path to your administrative installation point for Office 2000
CD2.

| 2. | Click OK to the message that Setup completed successfully. |
| 3. | Click Yes if you are prompted to restart your computer. |
Method 2: If You Need to Update Office, Internet Explorer, and the Windows Installer
If you need to update to Internet Explorer 5.01, Windows
Installer 1.1, and Office, you must run Setup.exe from your administrative
installation point at each workstation.
Method 3: If You Want to Update Office and the Windows Installer Only
If you want to update your workstations to Office 2000 SR-1 and
Windows Installer 1.1, but you do not want to update or install Internet
Explorer, you can use the following command line to run Setup.exe from your
administrative installation point:
Admin Path\Setup.exe noie=true
where
Admin Path is the
path to your administrative installation point for Office 2000.
