SYMPTOMS
Computers that use the I820 chipset and that access SDRAM modules may intermittently shut down or stop responding.
CAUSE
Intel has found that there may be some noise disturbances that occur in communications between the Motherboard components and the Memory Translator Hub (MTH).
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, download the Intel utility found at the following Web site:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProductID=211&DwnldID=2191&strOSs=All&OSFullName=All%20Operating%20Systems&lang=eng
(http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProductID=211&DwnldID=2191&strOSs=All&OSFullName=All%20Operating%20Systems&lang=eng)
This utility determines if the MTH chip exists in the computer. If the MTH component is detected, this is most likely a hardware issue and you should contact the vendor.
STATUS
Currently, Intel has canceled shipping MTH chips until the MTH2 chip is released. The third-party products that are discussed in this article are manufactured by companies that are independent of Microsoft. Microsoft makes no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding the performance or reliability of these products. MORE INFORMATION
