BUG: HTML Help Workshop Stops Responding When Removing Text Pop-Up Files

SYMPTOMS

When you use HTML Help Workshop to remove a text pop-up file from a project, HTML Help Workshop may stop responding (crash). The bug sometimes occurs immediately, and sometimes occurs a few keystrokes after the file has been removed. In some cases, an application error also occurs in the Hhw.exe file.

RESOLUTION

Use a text editor to remove the text pop-up file from the HTML Help project (.hhp) file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Problem:

  1. In HTML Help, open any HTML Help project (.hhp) file.
  2. Click HTMLHelp API Information.
  3. On the Text Pop-ups tab, click Text file, and then add any text file.
  4. Click OK to exit the dialog box.
  5. Click HTMLHelp API Information again.
  6. On the Text Pop-ups tab, remove the text file that you added.
