Web Page or E-mail Message Does Not Print or Preview Correctly in Internet Explorer 5.5 and Outlook Express 5.5

SYMPTOMS

Internet Explorer

When you attempt to print or preview a Web page in Internet Explorer 5.5, you may see a blank page where the body of the document should display and only the Headers and Footers may be visible.

Outlook Express

When you attempt to print an e-mail message in Microsoft Outlook Express 5.5, a blank page may print with the Header (To:,From:,Subject, and so on) and Footer information of the e-mail message.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, disable the Auto-Select option for encoding. To do so, on the View menu, point to Encoding, and then click to clear Auto-Select.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
