SYMPTOMS
If you attempt to uninstall or repair SharePoint Portal Server, you may receive the following error message:
Setup failed while installing subcomponent web forms with error code 0xc0070002 (please consult the installation logs for a detailed description). You may cancel the installation or try the failed setup again.
CAUSE
This problem can occur if the Exchange 2000 Server administration tools (also known as Exchange System Manager) have been installed and then removed. The SharePoint Portal Server Setup program looks for the following registry key, but it is not present:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Setup WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, you need to edit the registry. WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. To work around this problem:
