Computer Stops Responding While Upgrading to Windows Me

When you upgrade your computer to Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), your computer may stop responding (hang) during the hardware detection process, or when your computer is restarted for the first time.

If you then restart your computer, Windows Me may start in Safe mode.

You may also receive the following error message:

This issue may occur if you have the STB Velocity display driver installed on your computer.

To work around this issue:

1. Press and hold down the left CTRL key while you restart your computer, and then choose Safe Mode on the Windows Me Startup menu.
2. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
3. Double-click System.
4. Click the Device Manager tab, and then click the plus sign (+) next to Display Adapters.
5. Click on STB Velocity, and then click Remove. If there are additional display adapters listed, click each listed adapter, and then click Remove.
6. Click on the OK button to close System Properties.
7. Click YES to restart your computer.

Windows Me should continue with the installation normally.
