Each time you sign in to Windows Messenger, you may be prompted to upgrade the program.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you copy and paste the Windows Messenger executable file to the desktop instead of creating a shortcut.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, make sure that the Windows Messenger icon on your desktop is a shortcut. If the icon is not a shortcut, delete the icon and then create a shortcut to Windows Messenger. First, find out whether the Windows Messenger icon on your desktop is a shortcut:
