CD-ROM Does Not Run Automatically When Inserted

SYMPTOMS
When you insert a CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, it may not be run
automatically.
CAUSE
This issue can occur if there is an incorrect value in the registry.
RESOLUTIONWARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may
require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve
problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own
risk. To resolve this issue, use Registry Editor to locate the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Modify the value for the NoDriveTypeAutoRun key to 0000 95 00 00 00 (or
0x95 in Regedt32.exe).
After you make this change, quit Registry Editor and restart your computer. APPLIES TO
