PMAdmin Add Dbserver Sets Improper Defaults for Some Switches

SYMPTOMS

When you create a new partition using "PMAdmin add dbserver", if you do not specify parameters /maxconnections /replicationtype or /timeout, PMAdmin sets them to a default of 0. This default renders the partition unusable until it is changed to a valid number.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, apply the latest Site Server 3.0 service pack.

WORKAROUND

To work around the problem, use the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) to create or edit partitions. Please review the Site Server 3.0 documentation for details.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Site Server version 3.0. This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft Site Server version 3.0 U.S. Service Pack. For information about obtaining the service pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
