Shorten the name of the project to fewer than 33 characters using the
appropriate method for your situation:
•
If the project is saved in the *.MPP format, shorten the project's
name by clicking Save As on the File menu, and saving
the file with a name containing fewer than 33 characters.
-or-
•
If the project is saved to a database, shorten the project's name by
opening the Project_Information Table in your database program, and
editing the ProjectName field to be fewer than 33 characters.
Rename the item in the same location where you would normally edit it by
using the appropriate method for your situation:
NOTE: Using this method requires you to follow the same steps every time you want to rename an item in the Organizer. To rename items in the
Organizer, use Method 1.
Renaming a Table:
1.
On the View menu, point to Table and click More
Tables.
2.
Select the table you want to rename and click Edit.
3.
In the Name box, rename your table. Click OK and then
click Close.
Renaming a Filter:
1.
On the Project menu, point to Filtered For and click
More Filters.
2.
Select the filter you want to rename and click Edit.
3.
In the Name box, rename your filter. Click OK and then
click Close.
Renaming a View:
1.
On the View menu, click More Views.
2.
Click to select the view you want to rename and click
Edit.
3.
In the Name box, rename your view. Click OK and then
click Close.
Renaming a Report:
1.
On the View menu, click Reports, click Custom
and then click Select.
2.
Select the report you want to rename and click Edit.
3.
In the Name box, rename your report. Click OK and then
click Close.
Renaming a Module:
1.
On the Tools menu, point to Macro and click Visual
Basic Editor.
2.
In the Visual Basic Editor, on the View menu, click
Project Explorer and select the module you want to
rename.
3.
On the View menu, click Properties Window.
4.
In the Properties Window, rename your module in the (Name)
field.
5.
On the File menu, click Close and Return to
Microsoft Project.
Renaming a Form:
1.
On the Tools menu, point to Customize and click
Forms.
2.
Click to select the form you want to rename and click
Rename.
3.
In the Name box, rename your form. Click OK and then
click Cancel.
Renaming a Calendar:
To rename a Calendar, use Method 3.
Renaming a Toolbar:
1.
On the View menu, point to Toolbars and click
Customize.
2.
In the Toolbars list, click the toolbar you want to rename and
click Rename.
3.
In the Toolbar Name box, rename your toolbar. Click OK
and then click Close.
Renaming a Map:
1.
On the File menu, click Save As.
2.
In the Save As Type list, click Microsoft Excel Workbook
(*.xls) and click Save.
3.
Under Import/export map to use for exporting, click the map
you want to rename and click Edit.
4.
In the Import/Export Map Name box, rename your map. Click
OK and then click Close.
