When you attempt to connect to MSN, The Microsoft Network, using an
MSN Dial-Up Networking connection, you may receive the following error
message:
Error 629: Remote server disconnect port.
You may also receive other error messages when you double-click the MSN
icon on the desktop.

CAUSE
This behavior can occur if MSN or Microsoft Windows 98 is not properly
installed on your computer.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, follow these steps to remove and reinstall MSN based on the MSN version you are using. To check the version you are using, click the
Quick View icon, select
MSN Options , and then click
About MSN .

Unistall MSN 1. Click Start , point to Settings , and then click Control Panel . 2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs . 3. Click Connection Manager , and then click Add/Remove .
4. Click MSN v2.5 or MSN v2.6 click Add/Remove , and then click Yes . 5. Click OK , and then click OK again.
6. Close Control Panel , and then restart the computer.

Reinstall The Microsoft Network by following the appropriate steps.
Microsoft Network version 2.52 1. Insert the Windows 98 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. Press and hold the Shift key to prevent the CD-ROM from starting automatically.
2. Click Start , point to Find , and then click Files Or Folders . 3. In the Named box, change to the drive which contains the Windows 98 CD-ROM. 4. In the Named box, type msnstart.exe , and then click Find Now . 5. In the list of found files, double-click the Msnstart.exe file. 6. Follow the instructions on the screen to reinstall MSN. 7. Close the Find: Files Named Msnstart.exe window. 8. Double-click the MSN icon on the desktop to connect to MSN.
Microsoft Network version 2.6 1. Insert The Microsoft Network version 2.6 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. Press and hold the Shift key to prevent the CD-ROM from starting automatically. 2. Click Start , point to Find , and then click Files Or Folders . 3. In the Look In box, change to the drive which contains The Microsoft Network 2.6 CD-ROM. 4. In the Named box, type setup.exe , and then click Find Now . 5. In the list of found files, double click on the file setup.exe. 6. Follow the instructions on the screen to reinstall MSN. 7. Close the Find: Files Named Msnstart.exe window. 8. Double-click the MSN icon on the desktop to connect to MSN.
