Desktop Shortcut Keys to MS-DOS-Based Program May Not Work

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use a shortcut key combination assigned to any desktop shortcut for an MS-DOS-based program, the shortcut key combination may not function (nothing happens).

This issue can occur for the following reasons:

Windows 98 or Windows 95 with Internet Explorer 4 Installed

This feature is no longer available.

Windows 95

This may occur if you have not restarted your computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue in Windows 95, either restart your computer, or move or copy the desktop shortcut to the Programs folder. To move or copy the shortcut, follow these steps:

1.Right-click the desktop shortcut and then click Cut to move the shortcut, or click Copy to copy the shortcut.
2.Right-click Start, and then click Open.
3.Right-click the Programs folder, and then click Paste.
