SUMMARY

This article describes how to install the Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions for Microsoft Personal Web Server 4.0 on a computer running Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows 98, or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Workstation.

This article assumes that both Microsoft FrontPage and the Personal Web Server are installed correctly.

Install FrontPage Server Extensions

To install the FrontPage Server Extensions, do one of the following:
In Windows Explorer, double-click the Fpmmc.msc file located at the following folder:
\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\40\bin
-or-
On the Windows Start menu, click Run. In the Open box, type MMC, and then click OK.
a. On the Console menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in.
b. In the Add/Remove Snap-in dialog box, click Add.
c. In the Available Standalone Snap-ins window, click FrontPage Server Extensions.
d. Click Add.
e. Click Close to close the Add Standalone Snap-in dialog box.
f. Click OK to close the Add/Remove Snap-in dialog box.
g. In the Console tree, right-click the Web server to which you want to apply the extensions, point to New, and then click Web.
h. Follow the instructions in the Server Extensions Configuration Wizard.
i. Click Finish.

Install Internet Services Manager

In Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, you can also install the Internet Services Manager for additional Web management tools. To install the Internet Services Manager, follow these steps:
1.On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2.Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
3.Select Windows NT Option Pack and click Add/Remove.
4.Click Next.
5.Click Add/Remove.
6.Select Personal Web Server and then click Show Subcomponents.
7.Click to select Internet Services Manager and click OK.
