SYMPTOMS

After specifying a user name and password in the Add/Modify FTP Locations dialog box, you are still prompted for a user name and password when you publish to that location using FrontPage.

CAUSE

The credentials (user name and password) are not automatically passed to the server when publishing.

The credentials entered in the FTP locations dialog box allow you to browse FTP locations that you have specified with the correct user name and password.

When you publish, you are prompted for a user name and password regardless of whether a user name and password are available in the FTP locations dialog box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
