FP2000: Header and Footers in a Word Document Are Not Displayed in FrontPage
This article was previously published under Q219214 SUMMARY
Headers and Footers are not displayed in a Word document that is saved into a FrontPage web or previewed in the browser. Word writes XML code for its Headers and Footers for round-tripping purposes only.
When you view a Word document in Word, headers and footers will appear on the page, but will not be displayed in the Web browser. When you use the "Open With" command, FrontPage converts a Word document to HTML for viewing or editing purposes. MORE INFORMATIONWARNING: When you use FrontPage to save an HTML document that was
created by an Office 2000 application other than FrontPage,
you may encounter unexpected results when you attempt to
open that same file in the Office application that created it.
If you choose to open the document with FrontPage, Microsoft
recommends that you continue to use FrontPage to edit the document. When Word converts a *.doc file to HTML, the header and footer are not displayed in the Web browser. If you use FrontPage to convert a .doc file to HTML, you will receive the same effect.
