FP2000: Invalid Page Fault Inserting Timestamp When System Date is 2038

SYMPTOMS

When you insert a Time stamp on a page in FrontPage and your computer date is set to the year 2038, you may receive one of the following errors:

In Windows 98:
FRONTPG caused an invalid page fault in module fpeditax.dll at 0167:0042d0dc.
In Windows NT:
An application error has occurred and an application log is being generated. FRONTPG.exe Exception access violation(0x0000005), Address: 0x6791e557


Note: Memory address will change based on your computer.

CAUSE

FrontPage does not recognize the year 2038 as part of the two-digit number system specified for the 21st century.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

The numbers through 38 are two-digit shortcuts for the 21st century. If the two digits are greater than 38, a Year-2000 compliant application will automatically convert a two-digit year to 19xx.
