SYMPTOMS

When you try to run the Internet Explorer 5 Repair tool, you may receive the following error message, and the Details button in the Repair tool may be unavailable:

Internet Explorer 5 could not be repaired. Please run setup again to reinstall all components.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Fixie.inf file is missing or damaged.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, extract a new copy of the Fixie.inf file from the original Internet Explorer installation files to the folder where Internet Explorer is installed, or reinstall Internet Explorer.
