SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade to Windows 98 Second Edition, you may receive the following error message when your computer first restarts during Setup:
SUWIN.EXE caused an invalid page fault in SETUPX.DLL.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the Creative Labs SBLive! Emu10k1.vxd file is not loaded when your computer restarts.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue:
1.Rename the Emu10k1.vxd file to Emu10k1.old, and then continue with Setup.

For information about how to rename a file, click Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type renaming, and then double-click the "Renaming files" topic.
2.Reinstall the sound card drivers for the Creative Labs SBLive! sound card.

For information about installing the Creative Labs SBLive! sound card drivers, please contact the manufacturer or refer to your sound card documentation.

MORE INFORMATION

After you rename the Emu10k1.vxd file, the Creative Labs SBLive! sound card may be disabled and a yellow exclamation point may be displayed in Device Manager next to the sound card.
