When you attempt to refresh a Web page that contains an image that has been updated on the server, the image may not be refreshed. For example, a Web page that contains a camera image, which updates periodically, may not be refreshed.

This behavior can occur if the updated image uses a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) that is already in cache memory.

To work around this issue, quit and restart Internet Explorer or contact the administrator of the Web site to request that he or she makes the Web page update automatically.

To make a Web page automatically reload, modify the HTML source code to include a <meta> tag similar to the following tag where [n] is the number of seconds the browser program pauses before reloading the Web page.

The image cache in Internet Explorer loads images quicker and reduces network traffic. To increase performance, Internet Explorer opens images from the image cache in memory instead of from the disk or server. Also, if an image is used more than once on a Web page, Internet Explorer needs to download the image only once from the server.
