SYMPTOMS

Using Hhupd.exe to install Html Help 1.3 on a computer running Windows 2000 causes the following error message:
HTML Help 1.3 cannot be installed on Windows 2000

CAUSE

The HTML Help 1.3 viewer components are already installed on Windows 2000 as system components and cannot be updated using Hhupd.exe.

RESOLUTION

You can only update the HTML Help Viewer components on Windows 2000 by using a service pack or operating system installation.

You can install the HTML Help Workshop on Windows 2000. Use the file Htmlhelp.exe to do this.
