SYMPTOMS

When you run Ipconfig.exe with the display DNS switch (/displaydns), if the cache has a large number of entries, Services.exe may generate a Dr.Watson error message. This symptom has been noted on configurations with Domain Name Resolution (DNR) caches that contain 2000 entries.

CAUSE

This problem can occur when there are over 2000 entries in the DNR cache. This can cause Services.exe to stop responding (hang) when you run Ipconfig.exe with the /displaydns and /flushdns switches to perform look ups to resolve issues where Web sites are failing for clients.
