Keyboard Repeat Rate Does Not Correspond to the Keyboard Property Setting

SYMPTOMS

The repeat rate of the keyboard is faster than the settings in Keyboard in Control Panel indicate. For example, the repeat rate is set halfway between Slow and Fast, but the actual repeat rate is faster.

CAUSE

The keyboard is an Universal Serial Bus (USB) keyboard and the Keyboard Repeat Rate setting has not been changed and is still set at Default.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, change the keyboard repeat rate in the Keyboard Properties dialog box to the setting you want (in Control Panel, double-click Keyboard). After the setting has been changed one time, the repeat rate will be correct on subsequent changes.

This issue only occurs with USB keyboards.
