FIX: Opening the Database Folder in SQL Server Enterprise Manager 2000 Takes a Long Time

SYMPTOMS
After you connect to a SQL Server server, and you then open the Database folder in the left pane of the SQL Server Enterprise Manager (SEM) of SQL Server 2000, it takes a very long time before the tree of databases displays or it may not respond (hang) at all. The time it takes to open the folder is proportional to the number of databases on the server.
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for SQL Server 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the

To work around this problem either:
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server 2000. This problem was first corrected in SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 1. NOTE: The fixed component, Sqldmo.dll, is a client-side component. To correct the issue desribed in this article, you need to apply the hotfix or service pack to all workstations running the SQL Server Enterprise Manager.
