SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade a computer from Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me) to Microsoft Windows XP, Control Panel icons that are installed by third-party programs may be missing.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because only known, good Control Panel icons are migrated during an upgrade.

Unknown Control Panel icons have ".disabled" appended to the file name during the upgrade.

Program Name.cpl.disabled
