After you remove an internal modem that is assigned to a communications
port not on your computer, the port still appears in the Device Manager.

To manually remove this port from the Device Manager, do the following:
| 1. | Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
|
| 2. | Double-click the System icon.
|
| 3. | Click the Device Manager tab, then double-click Ports.
|
| 4. | Click the communications port (COMx) you want to remove. |

After installing an internal modem and assigning it to a COM port that does
not physically exist on your computer, the port appears in the Device
Manager. After removing this adapter, the port is not deleted from the
Device Manager.
