Internet Mail for Macintosh can be set up to fully automate the process of
checking for new messages using a point-to-point protocol (PPP)
connection. This allows Internet Mail to make a connection to the
Internet mail server, check for new messages, and then terminate the
connection.

To set up a fully automated check for new messages using a PPP connection,
follow these steps in Internet Mail and FreePPP:

Internet Mail
| 1. | In Internet Mail, click Preferences on the Edit menu.

| 2. | Click Mail Server.
|
| 3. | Click the "Check for mail every <x> minutes" check box to select it,
and set the number of minutes you want.

| 4. | Click OK.

FreePPP
| 1. | Run FreePPP Setup.
|
| 2. | Click the "Disconnect if idle for <x> minutes" check box to select it,
and then set the number of minutes you want the connection to remain
active after it has been idle. We recommend that you set the minimum
number of minutes the connection will remain active after it has been
idle.

| 3. | Quit FreePPP Setup.
