FP97: Invalid Page Fault in MS Paint after FrontPage Setup This article was written about products for which Microsoft no longer offers support. Therefore, this article is offered "as is" and will no longer be updated.
This article was previously published under Q169081 For a Microsoft FrontPage 98 version of this article, see 194439 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/194439/EN-US/). SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to load a page which contains a JPEG File Interchange
Format (JPEG) or CompuServe Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) image, you
receive the following error:
MSPAINT has caused a invalid page fault in module MSPAINT.EXE at
0137:0042d3fe.
NOTES:
CAUSE
This problem occurs when all of the following are true:
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Paint.
MORE INFORMATION
Microsoft Paint, included in Microsoft Windows 95, is able to work
with a JPEG filter called Jpegim32.flt that is installed as part of
Microsoft Plus! For Windows 95. When you install Microsoft FrontPage
or Microsoft Image Composer, a new version of the JPEG filter is installed,
replacing the old Jpegim32.flt.
Because of the way in which the MSPAINT.EXE program calls the JPEG filter, MSPAINT causes an invalid page fault in MSPAINT.EXE if the new Jpegim32.flt file is installed.
