If you press and hold down the Option key while you double-click an icon
in a Finder folder, the folder closes after the item that the icon is
associated with is opened. Because the Favorites window is not a Finder
folder, this is not a supported feature.

If you press and hold down the Option key while you double-click a folder
icon in the Favorites window, you receive the following error message:
Sorry, a system error occurred. "Internet Explorer 3.01" error type 11
Similar errors of type 1 or type 2 may also occur.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Internet
Explorer version 3.01a for Macintosh. We are researching this problem
and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as
it becomes available.
