NOTE: These procedures only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate Workgroup/Other option. This option allows you to use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, on the Help Menu click About Microsoft Outlook. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Corporate" if you have the Corporate Workgroup installation.

If you are using Microsoft Outlook to access mail on a Microsoft Mail 3.x postoffice or a Workgroup Postoffice (WGPO) and occasionally work either offline or remotely using Dial-Up Networking, this article describes how to make your postoffice address list available when working offline.

How to Download the Postoffice Address List

To download the postoffice address list, follow these steps:
1.Start Outlook using a profile configured to connect to a postoffice.
2.On the Tools menu, point to Microsoft Mail Tools and then click Download Address Lists. Outlook downloads the address list to your system.

Making the Local Copy of the Address List Available Offline

To make the downloaded copy of the address list available offline or remotely, follow these steps:
1.On the Tools menu click Services. Click Microsoft Mail and then click Properties.
2.Click the Lan Configuration tab and under "You can use a local copy of the postoffice address list instead of the copy on the server," click Use Local Copy.
