SYMPTOMS

When saving a page after having made one or more copies of the same image, you are prompted to overwrite the image even though it was already saved in your web.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the time stamp of the image file is not copied with the image data. When you insert an image from outside the current Web and save the page, the image is copied to the Web but the time stamp is not. When you save the page again after inserting another copy of the image, the time stamp of the most recently saved image doesn't match the time stamp of the previously saved image and FrontPage prompts you to overwrite the image.

RESOLUTION

After you insert the image and save the page the first time, close FrontPage Editor and then reopen the page.
