SYMPTOMS

If you apply the full version Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2) and choose not to update Microsoft Outlook 97, you will not be able to remove Outlook using Office Setup in Maintenance mode.

CAUSE

SR-2 is designed to update all of Office 97. Setup files are modified to include information on the updated versions.

RESOLUTION

Using Office Setup in Maintenance Mode, add Outlook. This will update the version of Outlook to version 8.04.5619. You will then be able to Add or Remove components from the Outlook installation.
