SYMPTOMS

After you install the drivers (version 1.02) included with your Diamond Fire GL 1000 Pro video adapter in Windows 98, you may receive the following error message on a blue screen when you attempt to place your computer in Standby mode:
Invalid VxD dynamic link call from VPOWERD(06) + 00000BD9 to device VMCPD Service C

If you press Y to continue, your computer continues functioning normally.

CAUSE

The Diamond Setup program replaces the Vmcpd.vxd file with version 1413 by calling the DirectX installation without checking the installed version of the file first. Removing the driver or changing back to another driver does not resolve the issue.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, rename the Vmcpd.vxd file in the Windows\System\Vmm32 folder to Vmcpd.old, and then restart your computer. To do so, right-click the Vmcpd.vxd file in the Windows\System\Vmm32 folder, click Rename, type "vmcpd.old" (without quotation marks), press ENTER, and then restart your computer.
