When you fax a document after upgrading from Microsoft Outlook Express to Microsoft Outlook 2000, you receive the following error:

   Microsoft Word Err=1120, There is a printer error.
				

If you try to fax from Microsoft Word, you may get the following error:

   Word cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup.

This problem may occur for one of the following reasons:

•	A long file name path was written into the Exepath of [OLFax] section in the WIN.INI file.
•	No Symantec Fax Starter Edition printer is installed in the Windows Printer folder.

Choose the appropriate method.

•	To send the fax, edit the ExePath to an MS-DOS file name.
•	Install the Symantec Fax Starter Edition Printer.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Outlook 2000.

To get the correct path information into the WIN.INI determine the MS-DOS name for each folder in the path. Once you know this, you can then edit the WIN.INI [OLFax] section with the correct path information. In About Microsoft Outlook you should see "Internet Mail Only" if you have the Internet Mail Only option installed.

Find the MS-DOS Names For the Folders in the Path

If you know the path to the location where your Office programs are Installed, find the MS-DOS names for each folder in the path. The default installation path for Office programs is:

   C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\<program name>.exe
				

To determine these names, follow these steps:

1.	On the Windows Start menu, point to Programs, and then click Windows Explorer.
2.	Locate and right-click the first folder in the path, and then click Properties. If you accepted the default installation path the folder will be Program Files.
3.	Note the MS-DOS name for the folder. It will look something like: Progra~1
4.	Click OK and then double-click the folder to open it.
5.	Repeat steps 2 through 4 for the remaining folders in the path.

Edit the [OLFax] Section of the WIN.INI

1.	On the Windows Start menu, click Run, and then type Sysedit.
2.	Click to select WIN.INI.
3.	Search for the [OLFax] section. Typically it is near the bottom of the file.
4.	Edit the ExePath line to look something like: ExePath=C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~1\OFFICE\ NOTE: If the path to your Office programs is not the same as the example, use the MS-DOS names and path you noted from the above section.
5.	Save the file, and restart the computer.
