SYMPTOMS

Internet Explorer may not check for newer versions of pages stored in the temporary cache, even though you have selected the "Every visit to the page" or "Every time you start Internet Explorer" option in the Settings dialog box. These settings cause Internet Explorer to check for newer versions of pages stored in the temporary cache. To view or change this setting:
1.In Internet Explorer, click Internet Options (or Options) on the View menu.
2.On the General tab, click Settings.

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

Internet Explorer 4.x

To resolve this issue, edit the SyncMode value in the following registry key to verify the correct setting:
Hkey_Current_User\software\Microsoft\windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSettings
The data values for the SyncMode value include:

To resolve this issue, edit the SyncMode5 DWORD value in the following registry key to verify the correct setting:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\InternetSettings
The data values for the SyncMode5 value include:
0: Never
2: Every time you start Internet Explorer
3: Every visit to the page
4: Automatically
