beginning of this article, you may receive the following error message:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will
be shut down. When you click Details, you receive the following error message: If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
MSIEXEC caused an invalid page fault in MSIEXEC.EXE at ####:00400288.
NOTE: The actual memory address (####) may vary. CAUSE This problem occurs if your computer is infected with the
Win95.cih virus.
RESOLUTION You can remove the virus by obtaining the latest version of
an anti-virus program and deleting and then reinstalling the Windows Installer
files. To do this, use the appropriate method for your operating
system. NOTE: Do not attempt the steps in this section if you are running Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional or Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), because the Windows Installer files are part of the operating system for these two products. For Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft Windows 98
