Desktop Is Not Painted After Logging On

SYMPTOMS

When you are running the integrated shell, the desktop may not be painted correctly after a series of logons and logoffs. This problem generally occurs after the third or fourth logon by the same user after the last reboot. Although the problem does not always occur, once it does, the problem continues to occur for that user until the computer is rebooted.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.
