SYMPTOMS

When you open a self-extracting file (for example, a desktop theme), you may receive the following error message:
This application has not been designed for this operating system.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the file you downloaded is archived using the GkSetup build Setup program from GkWare, and the option for your operating system is not selected as one of the target Setup options.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact the creator of the self-extracting file to inquire about modifying the self-extracting file to work with your operating system.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, try to move the self-extracting file to a different operating system. This action lets you extract the file, and then you can move the file back to the operating system you originally used.
