Microsoft Outlook keeps a nickname list that is used by the automatic name checking feature. The nickname list is automatically generated as you use Outlook. If the nickname list is corrupted, Outlook may not be able to identify recipients, or may send the message to the wrong person. If this happens, you can use this utility to remove the corrupted entries in the nickname list.

To Install And Run the Utility

1.	Click the file name in the "Summary" section to download the utility.
2.	Save the file to your hard disk drive.
3.	Quit Outlook and any other MAPI-aware programs, such as Microsoft Office programs.
4.	Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder you downloaded the file to, and double-click Nickname.exe or Ol2knick.exe.
5.	If prompted with a profile choice, click to choose the profile you want to clear the cache for.
6.	To remove a nickname, click to select the nickname and then click Remove. To change the number of allowable nicknames in the list, type the number in the Max # of nicknames box, and then click OK. To turn off using nicknames, click to clear the Use Nicknames check box, and then click OK.

The nickname list is unique to each profile and is usually located in: If you have installed Microsoft Windows to another location, use the path to that location.

The Nickname utility is an update to the previous Wipename utility provided with the Microsoft Office 97 Resource Kit.
