SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade to Internet Explorer version 4.51 for Macintosh, the program may still be displayed as version 4.5.

CAUSE

If you download Internet Explorer 4.51 for Macintosh by itself, the self-mounting image actually contains Internet Explorer 4.5 for Macintosh.

The Internet Explorer 4.51 for Macintosh and Microsoft Outlook Express 5.01 combined download contains a program that is identical to Internet Explorer 4.5 for Macintosh, except that the version number reads 4.51.

To determine whether the update is installed with Internet Explorer 4.5 for Macintosh, check the version number of the Microsoft Internet Library. The correct version of the updated file is 5.0.1.

To check the version:
1.Start the Finder in Macintosh, and then click File.
2.Click Find, and then type microsoft internet library to locate the file.
3.Click Microsoft Internet Library, and then click command i to obtain the version information.
NOTE: The COMMAND key is the same key as the APPLE key.
