Movie Troubleshooter

You can play your movie in PowerPoint, but it does not sound right.
If there is no sound in your movie at all, first verify that your speakers are turned on, and that other sounds are playing in Microsoft Windows. To do this, double-click any wave audio (.wav) file in Windows Explorer.
If sound is working in Windows, test whether your movie has any sound when played outside PowerPoint. To do this, double-click your movie in Windows Explorer. If the sound won’t play in Windows, your computer may lack the Windows CODECs (compressor/decompressors) needed for audio or video.
(If you receive an error message before the movie
plays with no sound, write down the error message for future reference.)
