PowerPoint 2000
Movie Troubleshooter
|
You can play your movie in PowerPoint,
but the movie does not play when moved to another computer.
If you move your presentation from a Macintosh to a Microsoft Windows-based computer, the movie may not play properly in PowerPoint 2000.
Did you move the movie along with the presentation?
Files inserted into PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition are linked, not embedded. You need to have the original movie file on the Windows-based computer as well as the presentation itself. If you do not copy the movie along with the original file, the following caption is displayed instead of the first frame of the movie:
QuickTime(tm) and a <Video> decompressor are needed to see this
picture.
If you double-click the caption, you receive the following error message:
The linked multimedia file is unavailable. Do you want to locate it
yourself?
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
-
Copy the movie onto the
computer where you want to play your presentation.
-
Open PowerPoint, and double-click the placeholder for your movie.
-
Click Yes when you are asked: "The linked
multimedia file is unavailable. Do you want to locate it
yourself?"
-
Navigate to your movie file
and reestablish the link to the movie.
This also
establishes a link to the movie file in a Windows format. There are
fundamental differences between how file paths are used on Windows
and Macintosh operating systems.
