When you use a direct connection to a security-enhanced Web site, you may receive the following error message in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (SP1):
Page cannot be displayedThis problem may occur when you click a hyperlink in a Microsoft Office document that opens a security-enhanced Web page.
Hotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods:
- After you receive the "Page cannot be displayed" error message, click Refresh in Internet Explorer to view the Office document.
- In Internet Explorer, turn off the Show friendly HTTP error messages option. To do this, follow these steps:
- Start Internet Explorer.
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
- In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Advanced tab.
- On the Advanced tab, click to clear the Show friendly HTTP error messages check box, and then click OK.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
